The History of Vivint

Vivint, Inc. is a privately held residential security company which was acquired by the Blackstone Group in November 2012. In addition to providing home security, Vivint also offers services to help families conserve energy. Their mission is to help families live intelligently by offering home automation and security systems.

Vivint is a relatively new name on the home security front but they are not a new company. In February 2011, the name Vivint was taken on by the already existing APX Alarm Security Solutions. The change of the APX name to Vivint was brought about when the company decided to expand into a wider range of home security products and services. The company originally began business back in 1997, and after just one year they partnered with Goldman Sachs. Through a number of private investments, the Provo, Utah-based company continued to grow. In total, Vivint currently monitors 850, 000+ home alarm systems.
