Double Door Security Bar Best

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cadence Not worth the price We use this to keep our sliding door closed as a safety measure. It is adjustable and has a rubber stop so it won't damage anything. However, for the price, any kind of wooden stick would have worked just as well. November 12, 2008

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TonyH Excellent product for multiple uses We've been using this bar for quite some time now; we normally set it in the main door(s) after everyone is in, so we can have peace of mind at night time while we are sleeping; our neighborhood is pretty safe, but this bar gives us the extra security we need and feel comfortable with; it is well built, good quality materials and rugged yet gentle on the door's handle & floor. We got at a discounted price since we used a $10 coupon at that time. We were thinking on getting an additional one for the outdoor sliding door, but as someone else mentioned, we figured we could use something else; we opted to get a thick good quality cooper tube, which we custom cut at home depot to fit perfectly; since there was a left over, we also cut another bar shorter this time so we can set it in those days when we feel like leaving that door half way open. In any case this master lock product, as most of their products, won't let you down (I already had many people asking me where I got from: the answer has always been the same: at the Home Depot (a free endorsement there, what can I say...) Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LilAttorney I HAVE HAD THIS BAR SINCE 2001. I am a single female and have always lived in apartments. I bought one for my mom too. I bought it in 2001 after I was a attacked by a maintenance man (in student housing while I was in law school) who let himself in when I was sleeping. With all the people who have access to apartment keys, no one should live in an apartment without a secondary security device. This is very sturdy and secures tightly against all doors (I have lived in 5 different apartments since 2001). I sleep a little better at night with this device. If someone were to successfully kick my door down, at least it would buy me more time to get my .38 ready. I will always have one of these while I am inside my home, day or night. No installation required. Very easy device! October 31, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dan Prefer a modification I bought 2 of these as a defense against home invasion as this would give me additional time to for me to gain access to my 38 and then take care of business. I would have preferred ANOTHER (heavy duty type) pull pin like they have at the top of the security bar for the "adjusting" section instead of the spring loaded one that is at the bottom as I share other reviewers concerns about it giving way. I may very well remove that flimsy, spring loaded adjustment pin, drill another hole directly on the opposite side of the pole and then put a heavy duty bolt through it. That would definitely solve the give way issue. What do you think, Master Lock? June 28, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by wizart414 Not as good as you think! I just picked it up from my local HD. Got home and installed it on our basement door. I had my son who is 17 try and force the door open. With a 45 degree angle he was able to force the solid steel door with some force. with a 35 degree angle, he was also able to force door open with more force. On both trials my son said he was holding back and could have increased force but it wasn't required. The part that was interesting was where the device fail point was. It uses a spring loaded pin to select the length of the stick and to hold it in place. Both times when pressure was applied to the pole it was at the spring loaded pin that it failed. When you apply pressure the spring loaded pin slides in and out of place, with enough pushes the pin retracts all the way and the pole falls out of place. I wouldn't trust this thing when it comes to security. Because in security it either works or it doesn't and in this case it DOESN'T! A permanent pin once you have selected the proper length is what this pole needs to truly be effective. August 11, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Deserttraveler Solid and simple security I read about a number of home invasions in my neighborhood, and bought the Master Door Security Bar. It's very strong, supporting the doorknob and the striker. It's very easy to keep near the door, and to put in place. I'm very satisfied with the purchase, and might buy a second one for an interior door. The price seems very reasonable for the quality of the product. February 12, 2013
